【ICC部】模擬国連に参加しました
Five of our ICC students participated in the 3rd Annual All Japan Educational Model United Nations or AJEMUN. This year’s topic was International Migration and Development and over 600 students from all over Japan were given countries to represent and divided into 5 subcommittees.
The two-day conference started with an opening ceremony and students were immediately sent to committee to begin making motions and working on a working paper.
By the end of the first day, our students were taught how to make motions, vote on items, make groups, and give speeches. It was difficult at first but since the language of the AJEMUN was mainly Japanese, they learned quickly.
The second day consisted of turning the working paper into a draft resolution. More speeches were made as they debated what should be included in the draft resolution. At the end of the day, committees voted on each draft resolution. In one of our student's committees, two resolutions were passed out of three while another committee passed zero resolutions.
Our students were able to learn about global issues, debate difficult topics, and make new friends.
